Services Offered to Children of Deceased Adopted Persons

Registration Only

Effective July 1, 2003, the service was expanded to allow children of deceased adopted persons who are 21 years of age or older to register with the Georgia Adoption Reunion Registry.

These individuals may file a Consent to Contact or an Affidavit of Non-Disclosure with the Georgia Adoption Reunion Registry. Either of these forms may be filed at any time. It is important for those who register to maintain current information with the Georgia Adoption Reunion Registry, so that they may be contacted if needed. Information may be updated by filing an Update to Consent to Contact form with Georgia Reunion Registry whenever there is a change in address, phone or name.

Once a registration is entered, it is automatically cross-referenced within the Georgia Adoption Reunion Registry database to determine if there is a match. The match is then researched as to its intent. If either registrant has filed an Affidavit of Non-Disclosure, then the matching registrant is notified of their family member's wish not to be contacted. If a Consent to Contact has been filed, both parties are contacted by the Georgia Adoption Reunion Registry and informed of the match. Each party is given identifying information, and assisted in the process of making initial contact with their family member..
